E-Learning & Digital Citizenship
The vision for contemporary learning within the Cairns Diocese places significant emphasis on the vital role Information Communication Technology (ICT) plays in education. The overarching goal is to empower individuals within our community to actively participate in, and enrich our ever-evolving world, as outlined in the Learning Framework of Catholic Education – Diocese of Cairns.
At Holy Cross School, we are actively committed to preparing students for the challenges presented by this dynamic world. Our educators firmly believe in the transformative power of technology to ENHANCE, ENRICH and ENGAGE classroom learning, and champion inclusivity by making education accessible to all students.
In the realm of our digital landscape, Holy Cross School enthusiastically embraces personalized, self-driven ‘flip’ learning platforms. To ensure equitable access, we provide one-to-one devices for all students in Years 3 to 6, supplemented by readily available shared devices in the lower years.
The integration of a technologically rich environment at Holy Cross School has demonstrated tangible benefits, positively impacting learning outcomes for all students. Inspired learning is now literally at the fingertips of each child. When students are afforded the opportunity to infuse creativity into their learning approaches, they naturally engage in problem-solving, questioning, the discovery of innovative ideas, and take ownership of their educational journey. The result is a dynamic educational experience that equips students with the skills and mindset needed to navigate and contribute meaningfully to our evolving world.
Cyber Safety & Digital Citizenship
The landscape of online use and device interaction is in a constant state of evolution. With this ongoing transformation, there arises a critical need for families and students to comprehend and embody the principles of good digital citizenship. This encompasses an understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and skills essential for navigating digital life and ensuring safety while utilizing digital devices and the internet.
At Holy Cross School, we envision our community as empowered with digital tools that guide students to become resourceful, creative, and responsible digital citizens. Our Technologies and Health curriculum is designed to equip teachers with the best tools to educate students, enabling them to thrive in the digital world. Simultaneously, it provides families with the resources needed to raise children who are responsible digital citizens.
In our unwavering commitment to partnering with families, we actively share valuable resources with parents. Furthermore, Holy Cross School will continue to offer workshops aimed at helping families navigate the ever-evolving digital space. These initiatives reflect our dedication to fostering a community that is not only proficient in utilizing digital tools but is also well-versed in the principles of responsible and ethical digital citizenship.
