Our Outside School Hours Care (OSHCare) service provides support to families in modern times where households often have a single parent or both parents working. The services is operated as part of the Cairns Diocese’s Early Learning and Care ministry.
School-aged (4.6 to 13 years) care programs offer safe and productive activities during the hours outside of the school day. Recreational programmes of general supervision and individual attention are provided for before and after school care programmes, and during school vacation periods.
OSHCare staff complement the work done in schools by continuing to provide programmes to assist all elements of each child’s development. They provide a setting where children:
- Experience recreational activities within a setting designed specifically for school-aged children
- Socialise with their peers in a relaxed environment, with staff on hand to facilitate social skills and self-confidence
- Engage with staff and peers in quality programmes developed collaboratively by the children and staff
- Attend a variety of excursions designed to stimulate, motivate and entertain.
